Technical Assessment

Technical assessments are projects that analyze a client’s current business.  The focus of activity is on accurately documenting the information flow being used to satisfy a particular business function, measuring the effectiveness of that information flow, highlighting the possible points where improvement might be realized, and developing a strategy for achieving those improvements.  Some of the steps of a technology assessment include:

Process analysis - CCG uses interviews and flowcharts to document current business practices

Technology review - CCG evaluates physical components for suitability to task and efficiency based on current

                 technologies available

Performance measurements - CCG quantifies the performance of a business process and identifies bottlenecks, excessive

                degrees of freedom, and redundancies

Reengineering - CCG produces a project plan to improve the performance of a business process through either the

application of technology or the modification of the information flow

Implementation

Implementation projects vary in scope, and may encompass anything from the installation of a few personal computers to the replacement of a mainframe computer with a client/server system. Implementations are end-to-end projects, accomplishing all the tasks necessary to meet the clients information systems goals.  The implementation project would likely include the following steps:

Vendor evaluation - CCG coordinates the purchasing activities associated with obtaining the hardware and software

necessary to complete the project, ensuring the highest levels of service for lowest cost to the client

Hardware installation - CCG performs all hardware installations necessary to complete the project

Software installation - CCG installs and configures all software necessary to complete the project

Troubleshooting - CCG tests all components of the solution for interoperability and corrects any problems discovered

Procedural documentation - CCG documents all activities associated with the project, providing the client with a clear

understanding of the activities and efforts required to complete the project

Training - CCG develops and conducts training for the client’s user and support communities to ensure effective use

and operation of the new solution
